Voice Indirect Access – detailed information
1. Service overview
Telstra’s Voice Indirect Access Services allow you to move your existing line rental, voice and data calls from BT (or other service providers) to the Telstra network. The service is available on BT Openreach lines throughout the United Kingdom and offers a choice of three service types.
2. Service types
a) Indirect Access (IDA)
IDA is a method by which voice and data calls are routed to the Telstra Network using a “1XXX” routing prefix (assigned to Telstra by OFCOM) for call carriage and termination.
b) Carrier Pre-selection (CPS)
CPS is another method by which your voice and data calls are routed to the Telstra network. When you subscribe to our CPS service, we ensure that BT routes your calls to the Telstra network by prefixing dialled numbers with a CPS code at the local BT telephone exchange.
c) Line Rental
Line Rental is a service for customers with a Telstra IDA or CPS service who wish to deal purely with Telstra for their telephony solution. You would no longer receive a bill from BT and all your customer support would be provided by Telstra. Telstra would provide a single monthly bill incorporating both line rental and call usage charges. The types of line supported by our Line Rental service are: Residential Analogue, Business Analogue, Business Analogue Multi-Line, ISDN2e and ISDN30e.
